About The Artist

Charmaine Locke is an American artist with a graduate from Southern Methodist University and a background in psychology, Locke’s interest lies in portraying human behavior and motivations in a visual format. With public art installations at Anderson Ranch, Snowmass, CO and in the cities of Carbondale and Corpus Christi, her works have been featured in exhibitions at  Houston Center for Contemporary Craft; Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center; Aspen Art Museum; Museo de la Nacion, Lima, Peru; and the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, among others.

Collaborators:

The Transitory Sound and Movement Collective—a contemporary dance and experimental music collective based in Houston, Texas. This iteration of the TSMC is: Aaron Bielish, Lynn Lane & Violet Moon.

 

About The Collaborators:

Aaron Bielish

is an intermediate artist originally from Calgary, Alberta Canada. He works in a diverse range of media including photography, drawing, digital media, ceramics, and sound. His works have been featured in the United States, Canada and Germany.

 

Lynn Lane

is the founder/artistic director of the Transitory Sound and Movement Collective (TSMC) based in Houston, TX. He is also a photographer/artist/sound artist/filmmaker/poet. Select TSMC performances: Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Rice University Gallery, University of Texas (Dallas), the Texas Dance Improvisation Festival, Rothko Chapel, Arts Mission Oak Cliff, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Asia Society of Texas, 16th Annual Modern Dance Festival at The Modern (Fort Worth), Aurora Picture Show, Blanton Museum (Austin), NMASS Festival (Austin) and Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (Wisconsin). Recent poetry publication in the anthology “Love Letters to Gaia” and “Joined Up Writing: The Second Installment” (Scotland). As a photographer he is primarily a photographer in the Arts covering all disciplines.

 

Violet Moon

is a choreographer, dancer, and artist. They toured as an apprentice with Revolve Dance Company before being invited to perform select works by ARCOS Dance Company and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Violet later collaborated and performed as a soloist in several pieces by Dorrell Martin, Mike Esperanza, and Mario Zambrano as a founding member of LÉON Contemporary Dance Company. Since then, Violet has taught dance movement therapy at the Monarch Institute, choreographed pre-professional pieces, and presently performs as a freelance artist. Violet is also in the process of co-creating safe environments for healing and revolution through artistic expression.
